Alternative Holiday Fair
Alternative Holiday Fair, every December, held at the First Church of the Brethren, Springfield, Illinois

The Alternative Holiday Fair will again be held this year at the First Church of the Brethren, 2115 Yale Boulevard, Friday December 5th from 4:30 pm to 8 pm and Saturday December 6th from 7:30 am to 1 pm.
Choose from a selection of international gifts, including toys, games, desk accessories., musical instruments, baskets, jewelry, house wares, gift baskets, calendars, Coffees, Cocoas, Chocolates and holiday items. Baked goods will be sold both days, and lunch featuring several international dishes will be available on Saturday.
What makes this an alternative holiday fair? Many of the items for sale are purchased from SERRV International, a nonprofit alternative trade organization that promotes social and economic progress of people in developing regions of the world. SERRV works in partnership with 90 community-based organizations in 34 countries to ensure that craftspeople receive a fair price for their goods.
Also for sale will be fair trade coffees, teas, and chocolates from Pax Christi Springfield and books from Alternatives for Simple Living. In addition, P.O.R.A. (Positive Options Alternatives & Referrals), Sierra Club, Heifer International, Mary Woods WILPF Chapter, and Contact Ministries will be offering a variety of gift items for sale. Customers of the Alternative Holiday Fair can be assured that their purchases help promote social and economic justice both locally and internationally.
